Haiti earthquake survivors crowd Dominican Republic border

9:26 P.M. ? AT THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC BORDER ? A crush of earthquake survivors swarmed the border of the Dominican Republic on Monday, attempting to flee Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas.
Cars lined up for hours just to make it to the immigration office, and a horde piled up abou a mile, honking and blaring music.
Inside the heat-packed immigration office, the shouting, suffocating crowd bombarded the harried officers, who sat behind windows. Bribes were being taken to get some people through the process faster.
Thousands crowd to the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic on Monday January 18, 2010. Most were trying to cross to flee Port-au-Prince after last week's earthquake.
