For the epid week 32/2010 (August 8 to August 14 2010), seven (7)ILI in the new cluster incident was reported from five (5) states as shown in Appendix 1 attached. This amount represents a decrease of six (6) clusters compared with the 13 clusters reported in the previous week.
In the same week, a total of 513 new patients with symptoms of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) has been admitted to hospital for treatment of a decline of 8.9% compared to 563 patients in the previous week. ILI in the remaining cases are still being treated across the country on the last day of epid week 32/2010 (August 14, 2010) is of 360 cases in 60 hospitals, including nine (9) private hospitals. Of these, only 34 patients or 9.4% are cases of influenza A (H1N1) is confirmed by laboratory tests. For the record, there are three (3) H1N1 cases treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and all had risk factors.
The number of confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) in the same week of 64 cases compared to a total of 51 cases in the previous week, an increase of 25%, bringing the cumulative number of positive cases of influenza A (H1N1) is 15.584. No new deaths reported, bringing the total death cases remained 92 cases.
As noted by World Health Organisation (WHO), the world is now in the phase of post-Pandemic H1N1. Ministry is currently implementing activities in the post-Pandemic phases as follows: -
i.Meneruskan airway disease monitoring activities include: -
a.memantau unusual events such as the cluster of severe respiratory tract illness or death;
b.menyiasat influenza cases are severe or unusual clusters or outbreaks to help identify changes in the epidemiology or the severity of the disease;
c.mengekalkan routine monitoring, including the creation of clusters and the inclusion of cases of severe respiratory tract infections;
d.meneruskan dissemination of information on routine monitoring of respiratory tract diseases through specific channels;
e.melaporkan to WHO immediately if there are changes detected in H1N1 virus susceptibility to the antiviral drug, a new influenza virus infection in humans, any change in the characteristics of epidemiological or clinical H1N1 virus and to monitor genetic changes of the virus.
ii.Menggalakkan people take seasonal influenza vaccine (Seasonal influenza vaccine), which also contains the H1N1 antigen, particularly those at high risk and
iii.Meneruskan management of clinical treatment of influenza patients.
The public is reminded to continue to take measures for the control and prevention of the spread of H1N1 virus infection will remain with us for many years to come as seasonal influenza.
