H1N1: New plan will be in March
In early March will be ready a new national plan and regional plans for a possible second wave of influenza A H1N1 in the country, announced Health Minister, Esperanza Martinez.
In view of that goal, experts from the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) engaged yesterday in a "Workshop adjustment of regional plans for pandemic influenza A H1N1.
Officials are working on the basis of last year's winter plan, evaluating the lessons learned in fighting pandemic flu. The idea is to see what aspects can be improved to make more effective the fight.
The owner of Public Health expects the work to be undertaken this year will yield better results than 2009, given that it will act on the basis of experience.
"The idea is that in the beginning of March we have a National Plan with Strategic Plans for each health region, so to address this second wave of more organized fashion, without the population to panic, as he at times last year, "Martinez said.
Secretary of State announced that working with educational institutions and information campaigns are aspects to strengthen in coming months.
"We think if we start as early as possible the agreement with the schools, working with children, recalling a campaign to make hand washing and prevention measures, we will do better than last year," he said.
The minister said that thanks to the equipment of the Central Public Health Laboratory, which materialized in late 2009, it may make more rapid and effective diagnosis of influenza A H1N1 and other diseases.
