Influenza infections are on the rise, along with multiple winter-time bugs circulating in the Aspen area, making for a sick January for locals.

There has been one hospitalization for influenza in Pitkin County and five in Garfield County this flu season. One person who was influenza positive died last week at Valley View Hospital, according to Kimberly Levin, Pitkin County?s public health official.
