The death of a man in his 60s in Pierce County has been attributed to the swine flu. The death, reported to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department on Friday, was the 10th H1N1 death in the county since the pandemic's start last spring.

Seven of the 10 reported pandemic-related deaths in Pierce County were female victims, with the first occurring in May.

Also as of the Friday report, there have been 138 confirmed hospitalized patients with H1N1- cumulative since May 1. This includes five admitted for care last week, though illness visits to Pierce County emergency rooms for Influenza-like are on a flat or downward trend.

Total vaccine received in Pierce County to date are at least 131,950 doses and all have been allocated thus far. Click here for more information on where to find the vaccine.
