H1N1 And Seasonal Flu Blamed For School Closings

H1N1 and the seasonal flu are both being blamed for closing down schools across the state.
The Dayton Early College Academy closed its doors Monday.
Too many staff members were sick to open up. DECA reported five cases of students with H1N1 since September 16th.
It closed Monday because eight staff members were sick, some with flu-like symptoms.
Another Ohio school that kept everyone home today was a private school in Central Ohio.
Ecole Francaise reported too many illnesses to hold classes, but did not specifically identify the H1N1 virus as a culprit.
A Freshman at Miami University died over the weekend, and H1N1 is suspected.
18-year-old Matt Healy, from Boston, died Saturday at University Hospital in Cincinnati.
The university confirmed the death, but did not release how he died.
Just last week, Miami graduate Kimberly Young of Oxford died. Swine flu was originally suspected, but her family now says it was viral pneumonia.
Another Central Ohio school district is reacting to a possible H1N1 flu outbreak.
80 students at Buckeye Valley Middle School stayed home Monday. 90 high school students were also absent.
The Buckeye Valley School District told ONN Central Ohio Affiliate WBNS that three middle school parents claim their children tested positive for the virus.
The district is putting a letter together for parents to remind them to keep students home if they're suffering flu like symptoms, and to wait 24-hours after symptoms go away before sending them back to school.
