Viral fever grips Surat

SURAT: Inclement weather conditions have sparked large number of viral fever cases in the city.
Surat Municipal Corporation's (SMC) daily records have shown an increase of 15 to 20 per cent in the diseases compared to daily average. Even the private practitioners in different parts of the city are reporting an increase of 20-25 per cent.
Talking to TOI, Dr Hemant Desai, SMC's deputy commissioner, health, said, "Highly humid and cloudy conditions are responsible for this spurt. Nearly, 1,600 patients were coming to corporation hospitals daily till few days ago. The figure has gone up to nearly 2,000 in last week."
