Swine flu claimed eight more lives in Gujarat, taking the toll to 144 since January this year, while 152 cases were reported, officials said here Sunday.
?Eight more deaths were reported due to swine flu in Gujarat on Sunday. Two deaths each were reported from districts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, while one death each was reported from Kutch, Vadodara, Surat and another area,? Health Commissioner J P Gupta said.
He said that while 152 new swine flu cases were reported on Sunday, the total number of positive cases this year has touched 1,674.

SMC surveys more than 12 lakh homes in a day for Swine flu

Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) health department teams carried out a survey in 12.44 lakh homes of Surat city to detect suspected Swine flu cases on Saturday .

In a survey that was carried out door to door and in which more than 5,000 employees of SMC took part, 17,336 people with cough, cold and fever were detected and out of them 5944 people were referred to SMIMER, New Civil Hospital and different urban health centers located in different parts of the city.

On Sunday too, the survey continued. On the second day, 3, 47, 949 homes were covered by the teams of health workers and population of more than 16.19 lakh was covered.

Swine flu claimed six more lives in Gujarat, taking the total number of deaths since January to 150, an official release said today.

"The swine flu death toll has reached 150 in the state as six more persons succumbed to the H1N1 virus today," it said.

Apart from these deaths, 107 new cases of swine flu were recorded across the state today, taking the total number of cases to 1,781 till date.

The H1N1 virus or Swine Flu claimed five more lives in Ahmedabad on Tuesday raising concerns over the outbreak taking the shape of an epidemic. The deadly virus has claimed 155 lives since January 1, while total 1936 positive cases have been found in the state with 722 already cured.

On Tuesday, one death was reported in each district of Kutch, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Anand and Bharuch. The spread of the virus was across the state, yet Ahmedabad and Kutch districts were among the worst affected ones in the state.

Currently, 1059 infected people are under treatment at various government and private hospitals across the state.

[h=1]Swine flu death toll climbs to 186[/h] RAJKOT/ SURAT: With 10 more people succumbing to swine flu on Friday, the death toll in the state due to the deadly disease climbed to 186 since January 1. As many as 107 new cases of H1N1 infections were reported from various parts of the state.

With this the total number of swine flu positive cases reached 2,637 out of which 1,219 have been cured. While rest are undergoing treatment at hospitals.

According to state health department, three deaths were reported from Rajkot, two each from Vadodara and Anand and one each from Ahmedabad, Surat and Gandhinagar.

Surat reported 46 new H1N1 positive cases on Friday, followed by Kutch (13), Vadodara (12), nine each in Sabarkantha, Rajkot and Amreli, eight each from Gandhinagar and Anand. Cases were also reported from Bharuch, Morbi, Porbandar, Kheda, Jamnagar, Panchmahal, Patan and Aravalli.
