Ahmedabad, Jan 27 (PTI) With nine more people succumbing to swine flu the death toll in Gujarat has reached to 225, while 33 fresh cases of the infectious disease were detected, health officials said today.

According to state health department officials, three patients, Vikram Zapda (45), Gangaben Parmar (75)and Sweety Patel (25) died of swine Flu at V S hospital here.
One S K Bhatnagar and Suresh Patel both aged 54, succumbed to the H1N1 virus in Vadodara civil hospital yesterday but their death was reported today.

Rajkot and Ahmedabad recorded one swine flu death each with victims being identified as Jyotsna Mahendrabhai (40), and Hansa Rani (60), they said, adding that one Sarvottam Patel (45) from Ahmedabad died on Monday but the death was reported today.

Death of Sagar Narottam (22) who died at civil hospital in Rajkot on January 22, was reported today.

Ahmedabad, Jan 28 (PTI) Four people died today of swine flu in Gujarat taking the death toll due to H1N1 virus in the state to 229.

State health department officials said that three patients identified as Saritaben (25), Dharmishthaben (25) and Jignesh Meghjibhai died of swine flu at PDU hospital in Rajkot while 25-year-old Krishnaben Talavia died at civil hospital in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, 15 fresh cases were reported from Surat, Vadodara, Bhuj, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Amreli, they said.

So far 1,203 persons have been tested positive with the infectious disease in the state.

VADODARA: A woman died due to suspected swine flu at SSG Hospital (SSG) here on Friday evening taking the total number of victims in the city, since the outbreak, to 21.

The woman was a resident of a village in Sankheda taluka and was admitted to the hospital with flu-like symptoms earlier this week.

Resham Nayak, 35, had fallen ill at Bumadi village and had severe cough and cold with fever. After being examined by a doctor at her village, she was rushed to SSG.

Ahmedabad, Jan 30 (PTI) Three more persons including a six-year-old girl died of swine flu in Gujarat taking the toll due to the deadly disease to 234 in the state, officials said today.

State Health department officials said Priyal Nagar (6), Harun Iqbal (45) and Neena Pankajbhai (22) died of swine flu yesterday at PDU hospital in Rajkot. However, their deaths were reported today.

Meanwhile, 16 new cases of the infectious disease were reported from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bhavnagar and Amreli, they said.

So far, 1,241 people have been affected with swine flu in Gujarat, the officials said.

Ahmedabad, Jan 31 (PTI) Two more persons died of swine flu in Gujarat, taking the toll due to the deadly virus to 236 in the state today, health officials said.

21 others, including five toddlers, also tested positive for the virus, they said.

Vimaben Bhavaria (24) died at Bhavnagar civil hospital, while Sobhnaben Umedbhai (45) succumbed to the virus in Rajkot Civil Hospital today.

According to the officials, 21 people who tested positive for swine flu today, were from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Anand, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.

With this, the number of total affected people rose to 1,261, out of which 236 have died.

Out of 236, eight persons were from Rajasthan, who were brought here for treatment.

Ahmedabad, Feb 2 (PTI) Swine flu has claimed three more lives in Gujarat, taking the death toll in the state to 242, while 19 more persons today tested positive for the infection.

According to Health Department officials, two patients infected with H1N1, Hasumatiben Patel (55) and Arjun Solanki (50), died at Civil Hospital here today. The third victim, Joshna Ramanlal, succumbed at the Hospital yesterday.

The new cases were reported from Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Porbandar, they said.

So far, 1,289 people have tested positive for swine flu in Gujarat, one of the worst-affected states in the country, which reported the first confirmed H1N1 case in May last year.

RAJKOT: Three more swine flu deaths were reported from Saurashtra in last 24 hours. While a girl died at PDU Hospital in the city, two persons died at Bhavnagar's Sir T Hospital, taking the state toll to 238.

In the city, Mukti Shah (4) of Silver Society lost her battle with the flu on Tuesday night. She was admitted since January 25 in the hospital. Presently, there are 17 patients in the swine flu ward, of which five are positive and 11 are awaiting their reports.

In Bhavnagar, Samrat Rabari (60) and Kalu Gohil (52) died at Sir T Hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. This apart, a four-year-old boy Ankit Bhabho died in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Bureau reports also said that a pregnant woman Diwali Kalavalda (22) of Merana village of Porbandar died on the way from Porbandar to Rajkot. Her samples tested positive later at Rajkot's laboratory.

Ahmedabad, Feb 4 (PTI) Two persons including a one-and-half-year-old child died due to swine flu in Gujarat, taking the death toll in the state to 248, officials said.

Eight fresh cases were also reported today from Jamnagar, Ahmedabad and Rajkot, they said.

State Health Department officials said that Chetna Harenshbhai, the child, died at civil hospital here while 45-year-old Girishbhai Chavda expired at PDU hospital in Rajkot.

A total of 1,307 cases have tested positive, they added.

Two women died in Ahmedabad and one each in Bhavnagar and Rajkot, the officials added.

Eleven new H1N1 cases were reported in the state yesterday, taking total such cases to 1318.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic in August last year, as many as 4553 suspected swine flu cases were reported in the state so far. Of them, 3235 were tested negative, they said.

Ahmedabad, Feb 6 (PTI) Two more people have died of swine flu in Gujarat, taking the toll due to H1N1 virus to 254 while 12 new cases were reported today.

According to the health department, 25-year-old Deepa Madanlal died today of swine flu at civil hospital here while a 50-year-old, Dayaji Thakor, died also at civil hospital yesterday but his death was reported today.

Meanwhile, new cases of swine flu were reported from Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Amreli, Vadodara and Rajkot.

In Gujarat, so far 254 people have died due to swine flu while 1,330 people have tested positive for the disease.

Swine flu claims one more in city, toll reaches 24

SURAT: The death toll due to H1N1 virus in the city has reached 24 with one more infected patient dying at a private hospital here on Saturday.

Health department officials said 84-year-old Champak Modi, former president, South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SGCCI), was admitted to Girish Group of Hospitals with complaints of fever, cough and cold on January 27, 2010.

He tested positive for swine flu and was being treated for the virus to which he later succumbed.

Dr Piyush Shah, nodal officer, health department, told TOI, "We have patients every day who are suspected of being infected with the virus but the number is not that large. However, we are taking all precautions and ensuring speedy treatment to H1N1 patients."

Until now there have been 146 positive H1N1 patients in the city of the total 698 who had been initially suspected of being infected with the virus.

The H1N1 virus has so far claimed 24 lives in the city.

At least five patients, who are suspected to be infected with swine flu virus, were admitted to different hospitals in the city on Sunday. Their reports are still awaited. Besides, there are 20 patients who are receiving treatment for the disease in 14 different hospitals in the city.

Meanwhile, the health department has issued a show cause notice to Mission Hospital at Athwalines for not reporting about suspected swine flu patients under its care. The authorities have so far given notices to 14 different hospitals in the city for the same reason. They have been given seven days' time to reply.

According to the Health Department officials, six-year-old girl Sharmila Udaybhai died at PDU Hospital in Rajkot today, while Pankaj Dwivedi (25) succumbed at SSG Hospital Vadodara yesterday, but his death was reported today.

The new H1N1 cases were reported from Rajkot, Amreli, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar and Vadodara, they said.

So far, 1,348 people have tested positive for the deadly virus in the state.

RAJKOT: An eight-year-old girl died of suspected swine flu at the city's PDU hospital on Monday morning.

Sharmila Uday of Morbi was bought to swine flu isolation ward in a serious condition at 2 am on Monday. She was kept in intensive care unit. She died later in the morning.

Reports of her blood samples are awaited. At present, there are 14 patients in the isolation ward of which nine are positive and four are waiting for blood test reports. tnn

Swine flu claims 23rd victim in Vadodara

Swine flu claimed its 23rd victim in Vadodara today when Ruksana Saiyad (41) of Tandalja area passed away at 4 pm. She was admitted in the Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital on January 28 and was tested positive the next day.



She was reportedly critical at the time of admission and her condition gradually worsened in the last few days. She will be buried in Padra under medical guidance. She is survived by two children.



Elsewhere, a man from Uttar Pradesh working in Dahej died on Monday and was initially suspected to be H1N1 positive.



Upendra Sirohi (30) was working in a construction firm in Dahej. He was admitted in the Sterling Hospital on Monday with severe fever and cold. Sirohi died at 10 pm even before the arrival of swine flu reports.



Sirohi?s relatives demanded that the body be taken back to his hometown, which was rejected on the basis of medical guidelines. ?There was a lot of confusion in the morning and a dilemma on our part as well. But later, the deceased?s medical report confirmed him to be swine flu negative, after which his relatives were allowed to take the body,? said Akhil Dave, Public Relations Officer, Sterling Hospital.

VADODARA: Swine flu claimed its 24th victim in the city with a 30-year-old youth dying at SSG Hospital here late on Thursday night. The victim used to work with a private company.

Pradeep Patel, 30, a resident of Mahalaxmi Nagar, was admitted to SSG Hospital here on Monday with flu-like symptoms. His samples were collected for H1N1 test on Tuesday and he tested positive for the virus.

Sources said Patel died at the hospital around 11 pm. Patel is survived by wife and had no children. They said his brother had died in a road accident about four months ago.

H1N1 deaths in Gujarat rises to 270 with child's death

Ahmedabad: A ten-month-old girl died of Swine flu on Sunday at Sola Civil Hospital here, taking the state's toll to 270 while nine new cases were also reported.

According to the health department officials, the infant who was infected with H1N1 virus, today died at civil hospital while new cases were reported from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara and Bhavnagar.


In Gujarat, the Swine flu has claimed 270 lives while 1,409 people have so far tested positive with the H1N1 infection.

Of those 270 died here, nine people were from Rajasthan, who came for treatment here, while one person came from other neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.

Ahmedabad: Three more persons, one of them a one-year-old girl, succumbed to swine flu in Gujarat, taking the toll to 273, while five new H1N1 cases were reported on Tuesday.

According to Health Department officials, Navghan Vadi (30) and Abdul Sameda (25) died at Civil Hospital here today, while the girl, Anju Nagjibhai, succumbed to the infection at Civil Hospital in Amreli.


The girl died yesterday but it was reported today, they said.

Meanwhile, new cases were reported from Rajkot, Vadodara and Amreli.

So far, 1,416 people have tested positive for the viral disease in the state.

Ahmedabad, Feb 21 (PTI) Five more deaths due to swine flu have been reported from Gujarat in the last 48 hours, taking the toll to 285 there, health officials said here today.

Nine new cases of H1N1 infection have been reported from different parts of the state, they said.

One Dipika Solanki (25) died at the Surat Civil Hospital today, while Rita Chavda (30) in Rajkot and Chiman Vankar (30) in the city succumbed to the infection, officials said.

Two other deaths that had occurred last month were reported today, they added.

With this the number of swine flu deaths in the state have risen to 285, including nine from Rajasthan and one from Madhya Pradesh, who were brought here for treatment but could not be saved as their condition was critical.

Moreover, new cases were reported from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Amreli, and Junagadh districts.

One more swine flu death in city

SURAT: A 32-year-old housewife from Bardoli became the latest victim of swine flu virus on Sunday, taking the H1N1 death toll in the city to 25.

Dr Piyush Shah, epidemic officer of the health department, told TOI, "Deepika Solanki, resident of Sadhananagar Society of Bardoli town, was brought to New Civil Hospital (NCH) on February 9, 2010, as a suspected patient of swine flu. She was diagnosed positive for the virus and was under treatment at the NCH. She succumbed to her illness at 2pm on Sunday."

Nine new cases of suspected swine flu in the city were reported on Sunday, of Reports of seven of these patients are negative, but that of the other two are still awaited, Dr Shah said. Currently, there are 22 patients admitted in various hospitals in the city receiving treatment for the dreaded virus, he added.

Till now, of the 779 suspected cases of swine flu, 152 have reported positive and there have been 25 deaths in city hospitals.
