President Alejando Giammattei reported that preventive actions are maintained to prevent the spread of the covid-19 pandemic that registered 16 new cases and in total 153 are infected.

The number of recovered remains at 19 and 3 died from coronavirus, although there was another person who had tested positive for covid-19 and died, but the cause of death was a broken hip that caused cardiac arrest.

Starting Monday, April 13, the use of the mask will be mandatory for people who go out.

Active cases in health hospitals reach 130, Giammattei reported.

The president reported that a mob of community members tried to attack the family of one of the infected patients and they had to protect them in a temporary shelter.

The president also reported that he will implement 10 aid programs to face the economic crisis.

9.- The risk bonus for health personnel for Q26 million.

President Alejandro Giammattei announced two new cases of people infected with the new Covid-19 coronavirus. According to the president, to date there are 155 cases in the country. He also reported the death of two people from the virus.

There are 142 cases of covid-19 active in the country, said the president. He added that in the region of Guatemala, Chimaltenango and Sacatep?quez there are 134 cases, 80.23 percent of the total.

The president clarified to the population that the PNC will not capture people who are caught on the street without wearing a mask, but will give them a summons to appear to pay the fine, but if they do not, they would face criminal prosecution.

Guatemala adds 196 cases of Covid-19 coronavirus

President Alejandro Giammattei reported that this Wednesday, April 15, 427 tests were carried out to detect people infected with the new coronavirus. According to the president, the results revealed 16 new cases of Covid-19 in the country.

President Alejandro Giammattei reported on the night of this April 18 about 22 more cases of coronavirus in Guatemala and the death of a 90-year-old woman.

Guatemala reaches 289 cases of COVID-19 and reduces curfew hours

The President of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, announced this Sunday 32 new cases of new coronaviruses in the country to add up to 289 in total, including seven deaths due to the disease.

Giammattei reported the new infections in a national chain in which he also ordered the curfew to be reduced in two hours, previously from four in the afternoon to four in the morning and updated as of Monday from six in the afternoon to four in the morning.

The Guatemalan ruler, invested on January 14, also reversed this Sunday the ban on moving between departments that he had ruled on April 5.

According to the new regulations, movement is free in 18 of the 22 departments that make up the territory, but not in Guatemala, Sacatep?quez, Chimaltenango and El Progreso, all located in the central area of ​​the country.

COMMUNITY CASES

Giammattei said that in the last 24 hours 50 tests were carried out in the village and also reiterated that it is under a sanitary fence.

Ixcanal belongs to the municipality of San Agust?n Acasaguastl?n, in the department of El Progreso (northeast), and is part of the so-called Guatemalan Dry Corridor, a central region that crosses the country plagued by extreme poverty and malnutrition due in large part to the drought of its geography.

In the Guatemalan Dry Corridor, made up of almost 50 municipalities, about two million people live. But only 25 percent have water pipes in their home, according to the 2018 local census.

The sanitary cord in Ixacanal is identical to the one implanted on April 5 in the municipality of Patz?n, in the department of Chimaltenango (center), where the first community case in Guatemala was detected, a 39-year-old man who died this week because of of COVID-19.

The Central American country has counted until Saturday a total of 289 people infected with the coronavirus, including seven deaths from the disease, among which is the first community case.

After the detection of the first positive of COVID-19 in the country on March 13, the president ordered on March 16 the suspension of classes and public transport, in addition to the cessation of work at the public and private levels.

With a population of 16 million inhabitants, Guatemala has one of the poorest health systems on the continent, according to international organizations.

President Alejandro Giammattei confirmed this Monday, April 20, five new cases of Covid-19 positive patients in the country. To date, 294 people infected with the coronavirus are counted.

Giammattei explained that of the 294 coronavirus cases in Guatemala, 261 are active cases and said that the number of deaths due to the disease remains at 7. He also highlighted that currently there are 24 people who have recovered.

Laboratory network expansion

This week the Guatemalan government could sign agreements for medical laboratories to process tests for the new Covid-19 coronavirus in the country.

Guatemala registers 22 new cases and one more death of coronavirus this April 21, reported President Alejandro Giammattei.

So far there are 316 confirmed cases of covid-19, 24 recovered patients, eight deceased and 282 active cases.

The deceased is a 72-year-old man. Giammattei asked that older adults not leave their homes, especially if diseases such as hypertension, diabetes or heart problems are at risk groups.

President Alejandro Giammattei confirmed this Wednesday, April 22, 26 new cases of coronavirus in Guatemala. The president said that to date there are 342 people infected with the virus. Of this number, 305 active cases remain.

Guatemala reaches 500 cases of coronavirus; Giammattei claims that IGSS concealed two deaths from the virus

The president affirmed that the restriction measures decreed on Sunday, April 19 just last, are still in force, including the curfew between 18 and 4 hours, the limitation of locomotion between the departments of Guatemala, Sacatep?quez, Chimaltenango and El Progreso.

Guatemala confirms 530 cases of Covid-19
Guatemala, Apr 27 (Prensa Latina) Guatemala rose to 530 cases of Covid-19 today, adding 30 more infections at the start of a key week to contain the growth of the disease curve.

In his message to the nation, President Alejandro Giammattei specified that of the total number of infected 337 are men and 193 women, while 464 active cases total, 49 achieved recovery and 15 died.

Giammattei explained that although the number was reduced this Monday in relation to the last of the weekend (between 40 and 46 daily), it is necessary that the population continue with physical distancing, the use of masks and constant washing of hands .

"And if you don't have to go out for something very necessary, stay home," he recommended as the best measure to face the rapid transmission of the disease.

By department, Region 1, Guatemala, Chimaltenango, and Sacatep?quez maintained the highest number of patients (302) followed by Region 2, Quetzaltenango, Totonicap?n, Huehuetenango, and San Marcos (89).
