Covid-19 in Guadeloupe: 5,000 new cases in less than a week

5,300 new positive cases have been recorded since Friday (January 7, 2022). 10-19 year olds and 20-39 year olds represent 58% of these new cases.
The shift towards younger age groups is therefore confirmed. The rate of contamination among 0-9 year olds currently represents 6% of positive cases, up from 3% at the end of the previous week.
The positivity rate is 21% and the incidence rate is 2,894 / 100,000 inhabitants over the last 7 days. Omicron is now present in more than 95% of positive samples.
24 clusters are being monitored in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. 35 intensive care beds are maintained on the territory: 30 at the CHU and 5 at the CHBT, to which are added 13 critical care beds.
28 people (including 10 with Covid versus 4 on Friday) were being treated in acute resuscitation. Concerning patients hospitalized in the medical department for COVID: 17 were in the infectious diseases department of the CHU against 6 last week. 21 others are accommodated in the other departments (13 at the CHU and 8 at the CHBT).
The city medical regulation reports a significant increase in its activity. Emergency visits are increasing: the SAMU and firefighters have seen their calls for COVID doubled.
