Grocers are installing plexiglass partitions at cash registers

Kroger is taking steps to increase physical distancing at its stores, the company announced Tuesday.

It has started installing plexiglass partitions at cash registers. According to the company, every checkout lane, including pharmacy counters and Starbucks registers, should have a partition within the next few weeks.

Walmart and some of the nation's largest grocery store chains – Kroger and Albertsons – are installing plexiglass barriers or partitions to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus and protect both shoppers and store employees.
