Gregory man's death related to swine flu

CORPUS CHRISTI ? San Patricio health officials have confirmed the county?s second swine flu-related death.
Dr. James Mobley, the county health department?s medical director, said a 54-year-old Gregory man died last week after having spent eight weeks at Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial. Mobley said the man had gone to the hospital and initially was tested for swine flu and was treated for pneumonia and later released.
The man immediately became more ill so he returned to the hospital and was put on a ventilator for several weeks, Mobley said.
During that time hospital test results indicated he had tested positive for H1N1 and because it met those requirements, his death was ruled as swine-flu related, Mobley said.
The man had a pre-existing health problem: congestive heart failure, Mobley said.
San Patricio County?s first death of a 48-year-old Portland man occurred earlier this month.
Nueces County has had nine swine-flu related deaths and Jim Wells has reported one.
