Malaria outbreak in Trikala

Malaria contracted a 55 year old resident of the village of Trikala, who in recent days hospitalized in the city hospital.
As the trikaladay.gr, doctors try to determine the cause of the attack, if that comes from an infected mosquito bite or if the 55-year 'stuck' by another man carrying the disease.
According to the Center for Disease Control KEELPNEO malaria (malaria) is an infectious disease caused by the parasite "Plasmodium" of malaria is mainly transmitted through the bite of infected Anopheles mosquito.
Malaria is endemic in nearly 100 countries, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. In Greece the disease was eradicated in 1974, after intensive and painstaking control program (1946-1960).
Since then, recorded in Greece annually about 20-50 incidents involving -in vast pleionotita- with travel or stay in an endemic country for malaria (imported cases).
However, from 2009 to 2013 recorded cases of malaria annually with evidence of domestic transmission in different regions of the country: seven cases in 2009, four in 2010, 42 cases in 2011, 20 in 2012 and three in 2013. In 2014 there was not recorded domestic transmission disease in any region of the country.
