Germany: Novel Influenza A (H1N1), total cases 20 (19 confirmed, 1 probable)
Robert Koch Institut on May 28, 2009, confirmed Novel Influenza A (H1/N1) in a young man from Norway, who had been on a flight back from New York to Oslo with a stopover in Germany. The man of 22 years had arrived on May 26 at the Airport D?sseldorf International with fever of 40?C (104?F) and was transferred to the local University Hospital in D?sseldorf.
According to hospital officials he?s already recovering. Same is to the 2 year old American girl, who came also from the United States, infected with Novel Influenza A (H1N1).
At present, there are five patients hospitalised in the University Hospital in D?sseldorf. D?sseldorf is the capital of the German Federal land North Rhine-Westphalia (midwest region of Germany). Airport D?sseldorf International has been the gateway for several of the confirmed cases in Germany.
As the Robert Koch Institut (RKI) reported today, another probable case of novel Influenza A (H1N1) was detected in the South of Germany (Baden-W?rttemberg). RKI tally of total cases is 20.
