Summary assessment of the epidemiological situation
The values of the Praxis index nationwide in the 11th KW 2014 decreased compared to the previous week . the values of the consultation incidence increased slightly . The ARE activity was slightly in total
raised area .
The National Reference Centre for Influenza ( NRZ) were in the 11 KW 2014 submitted at 116
Sentinel total of 24 samples (21 %) were positive for influenza. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) or human metapneumoviruses ( hMPV ) was detected in each of 16 (14%) samples. Into seven (6%) specimens were adenoviruses and nine ( 8%) samples rhinoviruses were detected.
After the Infection Protection Act (IfSG ) were used for the 11 Reporting week (MW) in 2014 so far 452 and since
the 40th Transmitted MW in 2013 were 3,848 laboratory- confirmed clinical influenza cases to the RKI
(Data as of 03.18.2014 ) .
In an influenza - positive rate of about 20% since the 8th KW caused this year's flu season
Only a slight increase of the clinical activity in Germany. Cause side Influenza
other respiratory pathogens such as RSV acute respiratory diseases, especially in the age group
the 0 - to 14 -year-olds .
*
Acute respiratory disease (ARE)
The values of the index are in practice 11 KW 2014 compared to the previous week declined nationwide. the
Practice index was in the 11th KW 2014 total in the range slightly increased ARE activity. In the AGI region Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland practice index ranged moderately increased ARE activity

Data reported by the Infection Protection Act (IfSG )
For 11 MW in 2014 have so far been 452 laboratory- confirmed clinical influenza illness in
the RKI transmitted : 47 cases of influenza A ( H1N1) pdm09 , 28 cases of influenza A ( H3N2) , 331 cases of
not subtypisierter influenza A, influenza B, and 19 cases with 27 cases with non differentiated by influenza A or B (Table 3). In 78 (17% ) of these patients was indicated that they were hospitalized.
Since the 40th MW 2013 were a total of 3,848 laboratory- confirmed clinical influenza cases
the RKI transmitted . In 748 ( 19%) cases had indicated that they were hospitalized (data
03.18.2014 ) .
So far, nine laboratory- confirmed deaths to the RKI was submitted , four of them with
Influenza A ( H1N1) pdm09 and five with non subtypisierter influenza A.
The different distribution of the identified influenza A subtypes in the AGI -Sentinel and the
Reporting data is due inter alia due to the fact that after the 2009 pandemic clearly more specific
PCR detection pdm09 than for subtyping for A ( H3N2) Influenza A ( H1N1) have been established . the
Distribution of circulating in the population influenza types and subtypes is better represented in the AGI - Sentinel.
