E. COLI FOUND IN STREAM NEAR FRANKFURT

(AGI) Berlin - The EHEC 0104:H4 bacterium has been found in the 30 km long Erlenbach stream to the North East of Frankfurt. The Ministry of Health has issued a warning to citizens not to bathe in the stream or in any of the rivers in the Land region, but has stressed that there is no danger of contamination from drinking water. . .

Comment: it is not unusual to find bacteria including E-coli or EHEC in surface water. In the end almost everything ends up in the surfacewater.
The find could be related to a sewage treatment plant nearby.
Also nearby 2 farms which were closed recently, after the find of E-Coli bacteria (different strain) on their vegetables.
