Dachau (DK) Bird flu was detected in a pochard that was found ill in Dachau on December 26th. This was announced by the Landratsamt Dachau on its homepage, which refers to a communication from the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety.


. The duck was found in Dachau on the edge of the Amper near the Schillerstra?e.. According to the communication, this was an individual finding.. The influenza A virus of subtype H5N6 (bird flu) was detected. It goes on to say that this is not "extraordinary and in this respect not worrying" at this time of the year.

A transfer to humans is not possible. The area around the locality is also "actively observed" by the Landratsamt Dachau. . Further measures are currently not required, it says.
