Germany and France want to get rid of vaccines against influenza A-H1N1

According to reports today the daily Le Parisien, French diplomats abroad have been instructed to immediately report to Paris any lack of vaccine, the paper said. The Health Ministry will try to sell their surplus after the countries concerned. Last summer (northern hemisphere) the French government estimated a need for two doses of vaccine per person, so they bought 94 million units of medicine. In the following months, however, found that one dose per patient was sufficient.

A similar problem has also Germany, where the regional governments of the federal states ( "L?nder") have announced they will buy only half the 50 million doses of the drug Pandemrix initially requested.

According to "Le Parisien", the first buyers of surplus French are Egypt and Qatar. Cairo has ordered two million doses for a total of 14 million euros (just over 20 million dollars), while the Arab emirate has requested 300,000 doses of 2.1 million euros (three million). France asked various pharmaceutical vaccine originally amounting to 700 million euros. So far only been vaccinated five million French citizens. The death toll from influenza A is 176. dpa
