Georgia reports 1st flu death

Georgia has its first death from the novel influenza A H1N1 virus, health officials announced this afternoon.
A 43-year-old Cobb County woman with underlying health problems died from the new virus, said Rhonda Medows, Commissioner of the Department of Community Health and Acting Public Health Director.
There was no other information about the patient in the news release from the state.
There have been 211 deaths in the United States as of 11 a.m. today, not including the new Georgia death, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
There have been 37,246 confirmed cases in the U.S., including 138 in Georgia and 176 in South Carolina, according to the CDC.
