The Embassy of the United States in Banjul, Gambia has released an Avian Influenza Personal Protective Equipment Kits to the Department of Livestock Services.
An officer from the US Embassy, Christopher Zimmer said the US is concerned on the potential outbreaks of Avian Influenza in West Africa and has undertaken several programmes to provide equipment and training for countries in the region.
He said the personal protective equipment presented to the Department of Livestock Services are meant to help protect Livestock Services personnel respond to any infectious outbreak in Gambia.
Accepting the gift, on behalf of the Department of State for Agriculture, Dr. Demba Jallow, Assistant Director of Livestock Services, thanked the Embassy.
