SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is urging Georgians to protect themselves from mosquito bites amid an increase in West Nile infections, according to a release from Sept. 16.
The Georgia DPH has confirmed eight cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) in 2026 but expect that number to increase. One death has also been reported.
Mosquito traps in Chatham, Fulton and Dekalb County have tested positive for WNV. Officials are urging Georgians to protect themselves from bites as mosquito season lasts through October...
