FVS confirms two more cases of H1N1 in the Amazon

Manaus -- Two more positive cases of influenza A (H1N1) were confirmed yesterday (10) by the Foundation for Health Surveillance (FVS) in the Amazon. The first is a man of 22 who is being treated at home and one, a child of 7 months of age who died on January 23.
According to SVM, so far the state records 216 confirmed cases. Of these 120 were recorded only in Manaus. Altogether 13 people died from the H1N1 virus in the Amazon.
In Manaus, other cities in the state, such as Tef?, Tabatinga and Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, also report cases of infection by the virus.
The president of FVS, Bernardino Albuquerque, said the sister of the dead child is hospitalized in serious condition in hospital John Pike, in the east of Manaus.
According Bernardino, a vaccine to combat the 'flu A' should get to Manaus at the beginning of March. (FM)
