Fresh foot and mouth outbreak reported in northern Namibia

WINDHOEK, May 10 (Xinhua) -- A fresh round of foot-and-mouth disease has broken out in 11 villages in the northern region of Ohangwena about 790 kilometres from Namibia's capital Windhoek.
Ohangwena regional governor Usko Nghaamwa has confirmed the outbreak, saying the affected villages had another outbreak about four months ago.

Namibia: FMD Outbreak a False Alarm

Windhoek ? Chief veterinary officer of the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS) Dr Milton Maseke yesterday assured Namibians that the country is still foot-and-mouth disease free.
He was reacting to media reports circulating about a new outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Ohangwena Region, calling such claims false and devoid of any truth.
