[Updated on Monday July 6 at 10:21 am] The tiger mosquito ( Aedes albopictus) is an invasive species mainly present in urban areas, in other words, it likes places inhabited by humans. It is the vector of diseases such as dengue , chikungunya or zika .

In mainland France, this mosquito has grown rapidly since 2004 and is now established in
58 departments. In 2020, no indigenous case has yet been observed, but in 2019, cases of Zika fever and dengue fever were reported in mainland France.
