One suspected swine flu case under investigation

Swine flu: A suspected case in Toulouse?

While the virus has arrived in Spain and Great Britain, a man is hospitalized in Purpan.



A man is currently hospitalized at the Hospital of Toulouse-Purpan, and could be infected with swine flu. According to our information, this man of 28 years, originated in Mexico and living in Toulouse, was on vacation with his family in Mexico. It went through Mexico before returning to France.

SWINE INFLUENZA - Two suspected cases in Ile-de-France

Two probable cases of swine influenza have been detected in ?le-de-France. It is "a man and a woman hospitalized at the Public Assistance Hospitals of Paris" and "confirmation of these cases is expected within 72 hours, indicated Tuesday evening health authorities. Back from Mexico, they developed flu-like symptoms may be those of the virus identified as being of type A/H1N1. Tuesday, the National Institute of Health Surveillance (InVS) said that 20 cases of sick people were placed under observation.

Ces deux personnes, un homme et une femme résidant en région parisienne, présentent des symptômes grippaux et ont été hospitalisées. Les examens ne sont "pas complètement terminés" et les résultats complets seront connus avant la fin de la semaine, a précisé Mme Weber.

Ils sont atteints de virus A de grippe non connue jusque là, selon elle. Les autorités sanitaires avaient indiqué mardi soir que deux cas "probables" de grippe porcine avaient été détectés.

1. Vu l'expérience mondiale de ces derniers jours, l'on considère un cas comme probable (même confirmé selon certains pays) si le résultat des tests est bien un H1N1 non-typable.
2. Pourquoi un tel délai jusqu'à la fin de la semaine? S'agit-il d'un manque de réactifs empêchant l'identification de la souche - bien que le CDC des Etats-Unis ait déjà envoyé des kits de détection un peu partout - la France en a-t-elle reçu? Ou bien attend-on d'autres résultats ailleurs dans le pays, ou bien le grand weekend de congé du 1er mai pour faire des annonces?
