Influenza: 19 new deaths, 111 in total in metropolitan France
PARIS - 19 new deaths related to influenza virus A (H1N1) pandemic occurred in metropolitan France since the last flu bulletin released Thursday and whose data were arrested on Tuesday December 1, according to the Institute for Public Health Surveillance (VS).
The new figures bring to 111 the number of deaths in metropolitan France since the beginning of the epidemic and to 139 for all France, with 28 deaths recorded in the French ultramarine territories since the beginning of the epidemic.
InVS also identifies "86 new cases of severe influenza A (H1N1) 2009" from the ballot Thursday.
"In total since the epidemic began, 567 people were hospitalized in the metropolis.
"Among them, 155 are still in intensive care units or intensive care.
InVS recalls its mandate to monitor the health status of the population and alert the authorities in case of threat to health.
