Influenza A (H1N1): a man treated with Tamiflu died in Unieux
A man aged 58, suffering from influenza A (H1N1) and treated with Tamiflu died
Monday morning at his home in Unieux. Doctors said his death was

Based on laboratory tests, the authorities of Denmark, Japan and
Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong has informed WHO of the outbreak of
virus
H1N1 resistance to oseltamivir (antiviral drug known to
Tamiflu). These viruses were found in three patients who were not
seriously ill and have all healed.
Investigations have found no resistant virus among close contacts
these three people. Although resistant to oseltamivir, the viruses were
still sensitive to zanamivir.
Laboratories Network Global Influenza Surveillance examined the
antiviral resistance to almost 1000 pandemic H1N1 virus. In all
Otherwise, they were both sensitive to oseltamivir than zanamivir. WHO
and its partners will continue monitoring the resistance of influenza viruses
antivirals.
Based on current information, these cases of resistance seem to
sporadic. Currently, there is no development of a
extent of antiviral drug resistance among H1N1 pandemic virus. Following
this risk assessment, WHO does not change its guidelines for
treatment. Antiviral drugs are an essential element of the Action
public health when used as recommended.
