As of December 17 in France arrangements regarding avia flu have changed. Among other things there is no more obligation to check poultry for bird flu transported for slaughter. Since then, the number of outbreaks declined sharply. Dutch poultry expert Spieker calls it "striking".
More than half of the bird flu outbreaks in France were detected during the control for slaughter and now that legislation has changed, we wonder whether the number of reports is an accurate representation of the infection pressure in the affected regions, ".
