The owner of the farm concerned had obtained his poultry from the La Poterie-Mathieu farm near Pont-Audemer in Eure, a farm that has since been found to be a hotbed of avian flu. On Friday 27 December, noting an abnormal mortality rate among his animals, the Calvados farmer reported himself , while the epidemiological investigation carried out from the Eure farm had just been traced back to him. A surveillance order was then issued and all marketing of poultry from the Calvados farm was suspended until the presence of the avian flu virus was confirmed.

Slaughter and disinfection in the coming days
