Four die after not getting rabies jabs
QUANG NAM ? Four people have died in central Quang Nam Province so far this year because they did not receive timely anti-rabies injections, the provincial Preventive Medicine Centre has reported.
Dr Huynh Cong Quang, head of the centre's Department of Infectious Diseases and Vaccines said that these patients were bitten by dogs but didn't get injections at local hospitals or health clinics.
Some of the patients treated themselves with traditional medicine instead, which may have further endangered their health, he said.
Early this month, a 7-year-old in Dien Phuoc Commune, Dien Ban District and a 14-year-old in Ha Lam Village, Thang Binh District died after four days of using traditional medicine to treat their rabies infections.
