A case of measles has been detected at the Fort McCoy Army Base in Wisconsin where Afghan refugees are being housed temporarily as the government works to re-settle them.

An internal government viewed by Fox News stated that the army base confirmed a measles case Sunday, with contacts having been isolated as part of the containment measures. Aside from isolation, the notice said that “post-exposure prophylaxis and inoculations are in process.”...

A total of seven Afghan refugees at Fort McCoy in western Wisconsin have been infected with measles, but all have since recovered, a spokesperson said Wednesday.

Fort McCoy officials had previously confirmed only one measles case. That person arrived at the base Sept. 4, was immediately isolated and tested positive for measles Sept. 5. Those at risk of exposure were quarantined...

DHS Provides Update on Measles Cases in Wisconsin

Risk of measles transmission in surrounding communities remains low


The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), the Monroe County Health Department, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have confirmed 22 cases of measles in Wisconsin. Cases have occurred among people currently living at Fort McCoy in Monroe County with recent history of travel from Afghanistan as part of the United States government’s emergency evacuation efforts. There are currently zero known, active measles cases at Fort McCoy. The risk of measles transmission in the surrounding communities is considered to be low at this time...
