West Nile Fever, Former Yug. Rep. of Macedonia

5 outbreaks in birds and horses - 20 horses were found to be infected.
Serological surveillance is carried out on populations of susceptible animals. The positive animals are detected in the framework of the monitoring. The affected horses were clinically healthy during sampling.

Former Yug Republic of Macedonia is bordering Greece.
Greece reported WNV cases in horses - Also human infections, incl. 8 deaths.
