Lula shares Cruzeiro concerns

The H1N1 flu is again threatening another football match in Mexico.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva believes Cruzeiro should only agree to play the first leg of their Copa Libertadores final against Estudiantes if they are given medical assurances they are safe from swine flu.

Cruzeiro have called for the postponement of tomorrow's match, which will be played in La Plata just outside Buenos Aires, following the outbreak of the disease in Argentina.

The deaths of at least 44 people in the country have been blamed on swine flu.

Lula spoke about the issue today during his visit to Paris.

"The Argentinian health minister has to provide guarantees that the match can be held in Buenos Aires, or another Argentinian city," he said.

"If the health minister gives these, I see no problem.

"I believe that Cruzeiro are right to be concerned about the health of their players."

The second leg of the final is scheduled to be played on July 15 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
