Pediatric deaths reported by CDC (89 deaths) now exceed the season totals from 2004-05 (when it became reportable) through 2007-08 (88 deaths). Based on State and some County websites, I have a total of 102 pediatric deaths through Week 12. If we have a resurgence of pH1N1 or if pH1N1 lingers through the summer like it did in 2009, we could approach or exceed the pediatric death total for 2008-09 (133), which was dominated by the newly emerged pH1N1.
