Hi Everyone.

All national media in the US have "called the race" for Biden. Of course, this is not final. There are legal challenges and the states still have to certify their individual results. The electoral college still has to vote.

I just wanted to reassure our followers that we will remain the same in a possible new Biden administration. We are not political and our mission statement does not change. I made this same statement at the beginning of the Trump administration.

We do not accept government or corporate $$$. We do not accept ads. We do not ask for donations.

We remain constant.

Joe Biden is moving ahead with pandemic plans even though the election is not finalized. We will cover this news because he is possibly the next president. We will also be covering the current president (and possibly the next president) on pandemic issues.
 
It is now certain that the next President will be Joe Biden.

This changes nothing for FluTrackers.

There are some rumors that a Biden admin will make mask wearing mandatory as a national policy for a period of 100 days starting January 21. It has been clear since the beginning of the pandemic that FluTrackers has supported mask wearing because COVID-19 is spread largely by respiration.

However, a federal requirement on masking is unenforceable.

There is another rumor that a COVID-19 vaccine will be federally mandatory. Our policy does not change on vaccines. Vaccines are medicine. Medical decisions should be made by patients in conjunction with their families and medical providers. We do not waiver on this. It has been our policy since 2006.

Another rumor is that a Biden admin will federally require large, rigid metropolitan lockdowns as a COVID-19 response. These are also federally unenforceable. Look now. People do what they want. Some people obey state and local lockdown rules, some do not. A federal mandate will be extremely difficult to enforce in areas where the state and local governments are not participating.

Again - We are very sorry for what everyone is going through. The deaths, disease, civil unrest, economy.....
 
The work here is more important than any gov,t change. We report the truth and carry on as we have and work with who we have to :cool:

Well - it is not. I have posted these kinds of threads in the past. Many people wonder if we bend when a new presidential admin takes over.

We do not bend to political wind.

I have very low expectations for all politicians. We have expressed many divergent opinions on this site over the years, differing from such institutions as the HHS, CDC, and the W.H.O.

We are not bought. We do not bend. We are same as in 2006.

Thank you to everyone for sticking with us. This last election was very awkward. We are not political but political situations do influence public health policy. We do our best to stay neutral while still covering the pertinent public health issues. Biden is the new President. I made a post about his appointment for the head of the CDC and his federal COVID-19 plan. As there is a pandemic now, I am sure there will be more public health announcements and we will cover those as we did while Trump was President.

As I said above we do not bend to political winds. We are who we are. Since 2006. The same through four different presidents.
