Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

wotan.... I just tried to post that list as a "quick reply" to the original post (#1), and it still ended up in the main thread. did I do it wrong?

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

oh I get it... you change the display mode (top right corner) to "threaded mode" and then you can see a separate sub thread where I posted that list. sorry!

Yes, exactly! If you expand the threads deeply enough then you will find the forum no longer fits within a 17inch monitor and a lot of side to side scrolling is necessary to read things. This is much easier to track!

fyi......oregon state site says it will update count by 12noon today (PST, of course, I presume). Funny, they only show one death thus far, with one press release.

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Are you viewing linear, threaded, or hybrid? If you are using linear there probably won't be a change, the new post should just be at the bottom of the list. If you are on threaded or hybrid it should be a big change. When using one of the threaded views (I use hybrid) the new posts were getting buried very deeply. However, if appleblossom posts her new lists as a reply to the original post, those using a threaded view will see them all on the far left side of the message list, and new threads from those posts can develop. I guess not as many people use the threaded views. :) So maybe not as many people were having the difficulties I have been experiencing. :D

lol....wotan, I guess you didn't fully appreciate what I meant when I said 'clueless'. I have no idea what you are asking, so I'm gonna assume (at whatever risk) that I am using linear.
Anyway, whenever the very next list comes out, could someone just say that a new list is out, so I can see if I'm seeing it or not (yeah, you know what I mean). thanks!

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

What about Illinois? They're reporting death #11 and 12 today, but adding those 2 onto our Illinois list makes 13. None of them are repeats as far as I can tell.

http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=255757#post255757

a stab-in-the-dark guess:
The total is really 12.
The IL DOH data was released this AM. 1 of the 2 reported deaths in the Suntimes article died 3 days ago, so possibly (maybe) her paperwork didn't have time to cross someone's desk to be included in the DOH total for today.
So.......if we delete the unidentified, uncharacterized death from earlier today, and just keep these 2 women, we would have 12.
reasonable or bogus?

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Above the box that has the message list, on the right side, should be a little pull down menu called Display Modes. Click on that, one of them will be in black text. That is your display mode. Since my message here that you responded to was responding to a response to a list, look back about 7 posts (assuming you are linear mode) and you should see appleblossom's most recent list.

ahhh....I see. thank you, kind sir.
I think I like this better......less organized, but way more fun.
thanks for your help!

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

So if you are staying with linear I don't think you will notice a difference.

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Do we know how many are on ventilators right now?

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

That would be nearly impossible to determine due to privacy issues and the fact that hospitals don't have to report the condition of patients to the CDC, so the state health depts. probably don't even know.

I've been tracking total (not current) hospitalization numbers for each state and even though the states report that number to CDC weekly, only about half provide the information on their websites. For the rest, it's going to require a lot of phone calls. So, details beyond what is reported to CDC might not even be collected beyond the County level, at best.

This is what my tentative Illinois list looks like right now :

Illinois: 13
#1 Cook County, Chicago 22 year old male, died 5/24/09 reported 5/25/09 *unspecified underlying condition
#2 Cook County, Chicago adult female, reported 5/27/09 *unspecified significant medical conditions
#3 Kane County 42 year old male, reported 5/28/09 *unspecified chronic conditions
#4 Chicago 20 year old woman, Caitlin Huber died 5/30/09 reported 6/2/09 *pregnant
#5 Lake County, Gurnee 74 year old male, died 6/2/09 reported 6/4/09 *unspecified significant medical conditions
#6 Chicago, 26 year old woman Edriana Ramirez, died 6/9/09 reported 6/17/09 *healthy, hospitalized 1 week
#7 Chicago, 52 year old man died 6/11/09 reported 6/17/09 *had other unspecified health problems, hospitalized 5/30/09
#8 Cook County, 8 year old suburban Chicago boy Mark Dampier Jr., resident of Oak Forest, died 6/13/09 reported 6/17/09 *no known health problems, became ill 6/11/09
#9 Cook County, Western Springs 29 year old woman reported 6/18/09 *other health problems
#10 Cook County, Mount Prospect 29 year old man reported 6/18/09 *other health problems
#11 La Salle County, 18 year old woman reported 6/19/09 *unspecified underlying conditions
#12 Chicago, 54 year old woman died 6/10/09 reported 6/26/09 *unspecified medical problems, hospitalized 6/2
#13 Chicago, 47 year old woman died 6/23/09 reported 6/26/09 *healthy, hospitalized 6/20

so I don't have an unidentified death to delete, except possibly #2 Cook County which is an older one. So as I said, I am getting 13 deaths and no repeats. Where did I go wrong?

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Hello guys. Work has kept me hopping today, but I have been following along.

I have 145 as of right now, but I am showing 12 for Illinois, not 13. From the discussion above that sounds like the most reliable number for Illinois, or did I miss something? (I am showing the total world count as 329, but I have not been able to follow it very closely.)

We cross posted.

I am looking over your list and it all looks correct. Maybe I need to revise my count.

Thanks again for all the work you are putting into keeping this list current.

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Re: Links - Updated U.S. Death Counts

Okay, she answered.
"I spoke to the Oakland Co. Health Division last week for my story about the five deaths and they confirmed one was from Oakland County. I spoke to the same manager yesterday and asked about the second confirmed Oakland County death."

sorry, I misread this the first time. So that is the final answer from the reporter on the Michigan deaths, that the article is correct. So then it's up to us to decide between them, do we go with Michigan DOH website or the article for our locations?
