Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - June 27 +

Here is another New Jersey report.

The Ocean County Health Department today announced its first death of a county resident, who was confirmed by the State Public Health Laboratory yesterday, with the novel H1N1 virus. In addition, the young child had other underlying medical conditions.

The individual, a child from Jackson Township, was admitted to the hospital on June 25th and died on June 27th.

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - June 27 +

I wouldn't trust my judgement on anything LOL. But I think the press release you put up was for Orange County New York, not Orange County California. it can get very confusing. There are a lot of Orange Counties in the U.S.

You are absolutely correct! I should read more closely.

I agree with the way you have it posted.

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - June 27 +

Curious about the 2 newly-reported deaths in Newburgh. I wonder if they were acquaintances of that Pike Co woman who died in that town.
Sorry, too busy at the moment to check, so I thought I would wonder out loud.

Media now reporting the toll is up to 4 in Boston.

Two more Bostonians die of swine flu
By adamg - Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:03pm.
The Boston Public Health Commission made the announcement today:

One Boston resident was a 52-year-old man who died at his home on June 26. Test results came back today indicating he was positive for H1N1 influenza. The second Boston resident was a 30-year-old man who was hospitalized on June 15 and died June 29. He is a probable case of H1N1 influenza; the confirmatory test for H1N1 is pending at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

That brings our swine-flu death toll to four. City and state health officials say swine-flu cases appear to be on the wane in Boston.

CA - Marin County

Marin woman with swine flu dies
A 33 year-old Marin woman with a confirmed case of the swine flu- or H1N1 virus- has died.

The death was confirmed as the first in the county, by Dr. Anju Goel, the deputy public health officer in Marin.

The woman, who has not been identified, apparently had pre-existing medical conditions and passed away on Tuesday in Alameda County. She was transferred from a Marin County hospital when her condition worsened.

There have been 49 cases of swine flu in Marin and Dr. Goel admitted they've seen an uptick in cases lately-

"We've noticed in the last two weeks that we've gotten an increase in positives," she said.

According to the IJ, a Mill Valley man who had traveled to the East Coast and Canada reportedly died of the virus while in Canada.

Health officials are working on a vaccine for H1N1 that they hope to make available in fall of '09 but until then, they encourage everyone to continue to wash their hands frequently with soap and water and stay home if you become ill with flu-like symptoms.

The Union County NJ death is a 54-year-old man with underlying health conditions.

And I'm coming up with a man from Hidalgo County being the new death in Texas.

http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/news/updates.shtm

There have been 17 people with H1N1 who have died in Texas. June: one Travis County man; three El Paso County men; one man, one woman and one boy from Hidalgo County; two women and one man from Bexar County; and one Victoria County woman. May: one man and one woman from El Paso County, one Fort Bend County girl, one Cameron County woman, and one Nueces County man. April: A young boy from Mexico City died in a Houston-area hospital.

I am not sure. My notes are oriented towards weekly, not daily changes. My biggest jump was from June 12 to June 19th, but I am not sure if any single day exceeded yesterday.

Obviously I should have kept better notes.

First death announced in Ohio.

A Butler County man with swine flu died earlier this week, marking the first death related to the H1N1 virus in Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Health said Thursday the man was in his 40s and had other health problems that may have led to his death.
