I have a comparison of the DoH list with our list and the new totals today from LA, Fresno, and Orange Counties and have a total of 91 deaths.

Here is the breakdown of California cases by county:

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

MedTroll, I can update the 41 year old woman just reported in San Diego, California to reflect the new info you posted. If I spell out her residence "Laredo, Texas" then a database search for "Texas" will pick her up. So she will be listed in both states: your Texas list will show 29 entries, and the California list will show 73 entries, but the total number of U.S. fatalities will remain correct.

that's why I like the database a lot more than a text list. it solves a lot of our problems with states claiming fatalities by residency when we are trying to list by location of infection

That is perfect. I agree that the database is great.

Thanks appleblossum!

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

MedTroll I think the Worcester and Middlesex fatalities you linked to are actually in Massachusetts, and we've counted them already.

the database has been updated with new info in California: Marin, Riverside, and San Diego deaths. 1 new fatality added in Alabama.

also uploaded a photo of Jaime Norman to Flickr:

U.S. H1N1 Victims

You are absolutely and perfectly correct. MA not CT. I wasn't suggesting they were new deaths but that the report might have additional details, however, upon re-reading the post, there were no new details either.

This is what happens when you post when you are tired!

JimO,

Followed your link, followed your reasoning, and agree with your math. I am going to increase my listing for CA to 91.

Thanks for digging deep,

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

My Cali totals are not matching yours Jim + MedTroll. I am probably wrong, but I am getting 88 for California. Here's the explanation:

http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118541

the 7th death in Suffolk County, NY was previously reported in post #235 page 8 of this thread

I had 29 deaths in Florida before yesterdays report came out. I already had the Dade County 57 year old man, and Dade County 47 year old man. The Dade County 3 year old girl is new. The two in Broward, 59 year old person and 49 year old man are new. The Palm Beach County 90 year old woman is new. The 2 in Hillsborough County, 44 year old man and 49 year old man, we already counted.

So I'm getting 4 new deaths in FL:

Dade County 3 year old girl
Broward County 59 year old person
Broward County 49 year old man
Palm Beach County 90 year old woman

for a total of 33 in Florida.

Florida1, sorry for the misleading CFR on our summary list. I put it there at the request of a FluTrackers forum member, but I agree that it is probably best not to speculate.

I don't see the death in Nebraska listed yet, here is a link to the Nebraska Health and Human Service News Article regarding the death.

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

on a personal note, the "PanicDemic" levels in my household are getting a bit out of control. There was a big emotional discussion yesterday, and I've been asked to restrict my FluTrackers activity to the times when everyone else is asleep, so that nobody has to watch me typing away about my "morbid obsession" with flu fatalities (their words, not mine!)

FluTrackers is my therapy, a consctructive way of dealing with anger and fear over what's happening, but I have to put my family's needs ahead of my own. So you guys will be seeing less of me around here until things calm down with my mate. I'll still do the daily updates but they will be early mornings, probably just a recap of the previous day's news, unless the state health officials decide to change their media releases to 4:00 AM Eastern Standard.

sorry everybody. :(

I completely understand. Family should and must come first. You have done more than your fair share and I truly appreciate all you've contributed.

I have a similar situation at home. My family has not been able to understand why I have spent so much time on this issue, which makes it very easy for me to appreciate your current situation.

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

The latest post by the CDC is useful information. I completely understand it would be very difficult to track and report each and every case of H1N1 infection. Tracking hospitalizations and deaths and then reporting those figures on the web is great. However, if they are going to go to that much trouble, it would be SO much more helpful if they would break down those figures by state.

Here is the link to the total number of US deaths and hospitalizations.

Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - July 13+

Here are some details on one of the Sacramento deaths. It is either database case id# US377, or it's a new one.

Sacramento-area nurse is first health care worker swine flu death in state

SACRAMENTO ? Health officials say a Sacramento-area cancer nurse's death is the first among California health care workers related to swine flu.

Mercy San Juan Medical Center spokesman Bryan Gardner said officials at the Carmichael hospital do not know if 51-year-old Karen Ann Hays contracted the virus on the job. Family members described her as fit and athletic. She died July 17.

Yes, we understand AppleBlossom. It is not a "morbid obsession." Just remember that our brains force us to think about things that are important. The people that are not thinking about it just don't know enough to make them worry. Ignorance is bliss. All your hard work has and is helping us to track something that is a very real threat. I have stopped talking about it to my friends........they just want to enjoy the summer. I would like to enjoy the summer too, but then I see the rapid increases in cases in Mexico and California and I tense a bit.

Yes, it would be helpful if the CDC broke the information down by state. As Niman has noted elsewhere the CDC will continue to track in detail each H1N1 fatality, they just won't be providing that information publicly. After all, it is not that difficult to track 300+ fatalities. FT members are currently entering fatality information into a database and have recorded information on almost a thousand individuals. See: http://ft100.dabbledb.com/publish/flutrackersdatabaseforindividualah1n1cases

The USA has the most up-to-date fatality information in the FT database. Volunteers to track and enter data for fatalities in other countries are always welcome (send a PM to me). If the CDC and other national and international public health organizations would provide timely and up-to-date information on H1N1 fatalities there would be no need for FT members to track and post H1N1 fatality information.
