Flu toll climbs to 26 in Karnataka
Bangalore, Aug 31 (PTI) With a 28 year-old driver from the city succumbing to swine flu today, the toll due to the deadly virus in Karnataka has risen to 26, a top health official said.
"Sudhakar was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) on August 29 with very low oxygen saturation.
His throat culture swabs were immediately sent for analysis and he was put on ventilator support and administered Tamiflu," RGICD Director Dr Shashidhar Buggi told PTI.
"He did not respond to the treatment. His culture results tested positive yesterday and he succumbed to Classical Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) today morning," he said.
The victim was suffering from flu symptoms since August 22.
