Flu Outbreak Hit Hong Kong, 121 Dead and 224 Severe Cases


HONG KONG, NNC - Hong Kong authorities, wrestling with seasonal flu epidemics, have decided to close all kindergartens and elementary schools since Thursday, just days before the Lunar New Year holiday, to control the spread of the disease.

On Monday, the seasonal flu killed 121 people, including two children, since the start of the year, according to the Health Department, which recorded 224 severe cases during that period.

A kindergarten in Tsing Yi reported an influenza B outbreak on Thursday, affecting 20 students.
The centre urged parents to keep sick children out of school.
