Influenza outbreak at Guelph General

"The local medical officer of health declared an outbreak of influenza A on the seventh floor, east wing of Guelph General Hospital.

Dr. Nicola Mercer met with hospital administrators Monday after one patient and one staff member on 7 East became ill with the flu.

...An outbreak is declared when a patient acquires a communicable disease while in hospital. Hagerman said for the outbreak status to be lifted, there must be two incubation periods with no new patients becoming ill. Influenza A has a four-day incubation period...".
