ADRIAN, Mich. ? Reported flu-like illnesses in Lenawee County jumped from December to January, indicating a resurgence of the H1N1 flu, it was reported at the Lenawee County Health Board meeting on Wednesday.
Public health nurse supervisor Dawn Elliott said the H1N1 flu is raising concern because it has eclipsed the seasonal flu that has yet to make an appearance. National health officials report they are uncertain what the new strain of influenza will do in the coming months, she said.
Flu-like illness reports in Lenawee County shot up from 90 in September to 2,289 in October, according to health department records. Cases subsided to 890 in November and 383 in December before jumping to 638 cases in January.
Free H1N1 vaccinations are still available at the health department?s Wednesday clinics. Appointments can be made by calling 264-5226.
