According to doctors at HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital within the last week, there has been an uptick in the number of patients visiting the emergency room.

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital Chief Medical Officer Sushma Banda said the patients are not being hospitalized but are being treated for a viral illness.

“We are seeing an uptick in ER visits with upper respiratory illness,” Banda said. “Not necessarily COVID or flu but general upper respiratory illness.”
