YORK COUNTY (NEWS CENTER) - The Maine Center for Disease Control is reporting the state's first death from the H1N1 virus.

State health leaders say a man from York County died last week after being hospitalized for a total of three weeks. That man is said to be in his 50's.

His name and the day he died has not yet been released.

Dr. Dora Mills, the Director of the Maine Center for Disease Control, says while most H1N1 cases produce mild symptoms, this case demonstrates how serious the virus can be.
