First swine flu death in Macedonia
Macedonia has so far registered around 100 cases of people infected with the A(H1N1) virus.
Macedonia on Wednesday reported its first death from swine flu, a 32-year old man who has been hospitalized for two days with a serious case of pneumonia, television station Sitel said.
Another patient, a 55-year old woman, has also been hospitalized in a "critical" condition, the channel reported.
Macedonia has so far registered around 100 cases of people infected with the A(H1N1) virus. Authorities have yet to declare an epidemic.
Health Minister Bujar Osmani said the representatives of Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis were expected in Skopje on Thursday to determine when the swine flu vaccine would be available in Macedonia.
The virus has killed at least 6,250 people since it was first reported in April in Mexico, according to the World Health Organisation.
