Pneumonia takes his first four victims of the year, in the southern region of Arequipa, according to the report of the Regional Directorate of Epidemiology, Regional Health Management.

The head of the area, Patricia Polanco Guti?rrez, said the victims were two men and two women, between 23 and 88 years, who died in hospitals and Honorio Delgado Espinoza Goyeneche.

He indicated that during the first week were treated 12 patients with the disease in children under five years, and 65 over five years, most of them appearing in the provinces of Islay and Arequipa.

While acute respiratory infections, were treated 638 cases in 2000 under five, and 372 in 4000 over five, increasing these by 10% compared to the same period last year.

The specialist recommended to take preventive actions corresponding to the constant temperature changes that occur in the region.
