First dengue death in Ranchi

Considered safe from dengue so far, Ranchi registered its first death from the mosquito-borne disease.

Rabindra Singh, a public relations officer of the Central Mines Planning and Development Ltd (CMPDIL), a Coal India Ltd (CIL) undertaking, died of dengue Sunday night. He was admitted to the Guru Nanak Hospital here Saturday.

The doctors said he was suffering from dengue and his blood platelet count had dipped to dangerous levels.

He had come from Hyderabad Nov 8 and fallen ill. He was admitted to the hospital in serious condition Saturday.

Earlier two people died of dengue in Jamshedpur.
