Zika Virus Fever In St Vincent And The Grenadines

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment received the first confirmation of Zika virus fever in St Vincent and the Grenadines from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) late yesterday afternoon, February 23, 2016.The adult patient has, however, already recovered completely.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment has, therefore, taken the appropriate steps to respond to this confirmation, and uses this opportunity to again emphasize that all persons in St Vincent and the Grenadines should protect themselves from mosquito bites and should also ensure that there are no mosquito breeding sites in their environment.

In this regard, the Hon Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment will host a news conference today, Wednesday 24th, February, 2016, at 2.00 pm, in the Ministry of Health's main conference room, on the first floor of the Ministerial Building in Kingstown, to update the public on our shared response to this latest development.
