WARSAW, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The first case of the A/H1N1 flu has been recorded in Podkarpackie province, southeastern Poland on Wednesday.
The case was confirmed by the State Hygiene Institute, Health Minister Ewa Kopacz was quoted by Polish news agency PAP as saying on Wednesday.
The patient, a 58-year-old woman, returned to Poland from New York on May 2. She and three other family members with whom she stayed for the past several days, have been hospitalized, PAP reported.
The woman flew to Poland on a Polish Airline plane. The government security center has started an operation to reach all 170 passengers and crew members. They will be put under observation.
The woman's condition is not severe, according to sources close to sanitary services.
By Wednesday 45 samples from potential H1N1 flu virus carriers were examined, 42 tested negative, three are still under examination.
The virus appeared in 12 EU countries with 127 infections reported, Kopacz said.
World health experts have warned of a possible pandemic after the outbreak of the virus in Mexico in April.
